Frequently Asked Questions

Getting Started

What is FundTrail and how does it work?

FundTrail is a digital platform that helps you manage Rotating Savings and Credit Associations (ROSCAs) securely online. We provide group management, automated payments via TrueLayer, and digital record-keeping for your ROSCA contributions.

How do I create my first ROSCA group?

To create a ROSCA group: 1) Sign up and verify your email with 2FA authentication, 2) Click 'Create Group' from your dashboard, 3) Set the contribution amount, cycle frequency (monthly/bi-monthly/quarterly/semi-annually/annually), minimum and maximum members, 4) Invite members via email invitations, 5) Once minimum members join, activate the group to automatically assign slot positions and start the first cycle.

What do I need to get started?

You'll need: A valid email address for account setup and 2FA authentication, UK bank account for payments (TrueLayer Open Banking optional), and basic personal information. The signup process includes email verification with a 6-digit code for security.

Account & Security

How secure is my personal and financial data?

We use industry-standard security including SSL encryption and secure payment processing. Your data is protected under UK GDPR compliance.

How do I update my account settings?

You can update your profile information, email preferences, and password from your Account Settings page. Access this from the user menu in the top right corner of the dashboard.

What should I do if I have account issues?

If you experience any account problems: 1) Try refreshing the page and logging in again, 2) Check your email for any notifications, 3) Contact our support team at hello@fundtrail.co.uk or +44 7407 369616 for assistance.

How does the password reset process work?

To reset your password: 1) Click 'Forgot Password' on the login page, 2) Enter your email address, 3) Check your email for a reset link, 4) Click the link and enter a new password that meets our security requirements (8+ characters, uppercase, lowercase, number, and special character), 5) Your password will be updated immediately and you can log in with the new password.

Payments & Transactions

How do ROSCA payments work?

Each cycle, members contribute the agreed amount and one member receives the full pot. Payments can be processed manually or via TrueLayer's Open Banking integration. The rotation order is predetermined and transparent to all members. All transactions and payments are digitally recorded with timestamps and confirmations for full audit trails.

What payment methods do you accept?

We accept UK bank account payments via TrueLayer's Open Banking service. Payments are secure, instant, and processed directly from your bank account. International transfers and other payment methods are not currently supported.

Can I change my payment details?

Yes, you can update your payment details through your account settings. Contact your group organizer or our support team if you need to adjust payment schedules, as this may affect the group's rotation.

How do I confirm that I've made or received a payment?

The system allows manual payment confirmations. As the payer, you can mark payments as 'sent' after making your contribution. As the recipient, you can confirm receipt of all payments for your cycle. The group organizer can also manually confirm payments to keep the cycle moving smoothly.

What happens if I'm rate-limited during password reset?

For security, we limit password reset attempts to prevent abuse. If you see a rate limit message, you'll see a countdown timer showing exactly how long to wait before you can try again. This typically ranges from a few minutes to 15 minutes depending on the number of attempts.

ROSCA Groups

How many people can join a ROSCA group?

Groups typically have 3-12 members. Smaller groups complete cycles faster but offer smaller payouts. Larger groups take longer but provide bigger lump sums. The optimal size depends on your savings goals and timeline.

What happens if someone misses a payment?

The system tracks all payment statuses and sends notifications for overdue payments. Group organizers can manually confirm payments, extend payment deadlines, or complete cycles even with missing payments. Groups can vote on decisions like whether to continue with missed payments or reset the cycle. Clear group policies help prevent issues.

Can I join multiple ROSCA groups?

Yes, you can participate in multiple groups simultaneously. Each group maintains separate records and rotation schedules. Make sure you can comfortably afford the combined contributions from all your groups.

Can I change my slot position in the rotation?

Yes! FundTrail supports slot swapping between members. You can request to swap your receiving position with another member. Both members must agree to the swap, and the group organizer can approve or reject the request. This flexibility helps members adjust their payout timing based on changing financial needs.

How do scheduled cycles work?

Groups can schedule future cycles to start automatically on specific dates (between the 1st-5th of any month). The system displays countdown timers showing exactly when each cycle will begin. This helps members plan their finances and ensures predictable payout schedules.

What happens if my group needs to make decisions?

FundTrail includes a group decision system where members can vote on important matters like whether to continue with missed payments or reset a cycle. All members are notified of pending decisions and can cast their votes directly through the platform.

Can the group organizer manage payments manually?

Yes, organizers have additional controls including manually confirming payments, completing cycles even with missing contributions, and managing the overall group status. This ensures cycles can continue smoothly even if automated systems encounter issues.

Source of Funds Documentation

Can I get transaction records?

Yes, you can view and export your transaction history from your dashboard. This includes all contributions, payouts, and group activity records. These digital records can help document your savings history.

Can I use FundTrail records for financial applications?

Our platform provides digital records of your ROSCA participation and transaction history. While we can't guarantee acceptance by all institutions, these records document your savings activity. Check with your specific lender or financial institution for their requirements.

How long are transaction records kept?

Your transaction records and group history are maintained in your account as long as it remains active. You can access and download this information at any time for your personal records or financial applications.
